The Tale of Benjamin Bunny
Published in School & Library Binding by Troll Assoc (Lib) (January, 1982)
Average review score:

the tale of benjamin bunnyThis book is very easy to like and it makes yo want to read more. It talks about how he lost his clothes and much more if you wat to find out then you better read it.
Benjamin BunnyMy 2 year old loves this story she calls it, the bunny's friend book. She enjoys this story more than Peter Rabbit. I think that the story is more eventful than Peter Rabit; and it is nice that the bunnies get to finish their adventure. I have read hundreds of stories to my daughter and we both find this one enjoyable my 5 month old also seems to enjoy it. She likes the colorful pictures. I guess you could say that everyone is happy when this story is chosen. If you like Peter Rabbit you'll like Benjamin Bunny.

The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Other Stories
Published in Library Binding by Julian Messner (April, 1985)
Average review score:

A wordy classicThis book is full of short stories written by Beatrix Potter. I enjoyed reading the book very much. The stories were always adventurous. However, I found that the stories might be a little to lengthy for children to sit through (unless it is time for bed). The author of these stories is telling children that even though getting into mischief is fun at the time, it is not the best choice to make. Especially in the case of Peter Rabbit when his siblings get to eat gooseberries and milk and he has to eat beet stew because he is sick from getting into trouble. This shows children that there is a price for getting into trouble.
Excellent Collection Replaced by Larger One!This excellent collection of five Beatrix Potter stories has obviously been replaced with the larger collection read by Claire Bloom, "Tales by Beatrix Potter." My school library owns the title viewed here, but we will undoubtedly upgrade to the newer collection whenever it's available in CD. Listening to Beatrix Potter in Bloom's crystal clear British accent is THE way to hear these delightful, and classic, stories!

The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (January, 1988)
Average review score:

Timmy TiptoesThis tale is a very funny tale about a very funny squirrel named Timmy Tiptoes. Him and his wife Goody are getting ready for fall and hibernation. They go out to collect some nuts to store for winter and spring, and you can only imagine what could happen to then. This is yet another great story from Beatrix Potter, but not one of her best ones, I think.
The other squirrels in the forest think that Timmy has stolen all his nuts from their storehouses and they go to chase him. He then gets trapped in a tree with a chipmunk, known simply as Chipmunk. They decide to stay there while both of their wives get very angry with them. Read to find out what happens to the both of them, in this great book, perfect for nature and animal lovers.

Happy EndingOut of the complete Beatrix Potter collection, my 4-year-old daughter enjoys hearing this story the most. This story keeps her attention through the entire story. She looks forward to the end when Timmy Tiptoes is reunited with his wife. Some of Potter's stories can be a little harsh, this one is border-line, where the child may worry about Timmy Tiptoes, but he ends up getting back to his wife and life as usual.

The Adventures of Tom Kitten and Other Favourite Tales
Published in Audio Cassette by Penguin Audiobooks (March, 1997)
Average review score:

Tom KittenMy daughter loves the tale about Tom Kitten and his sisters, Moppet and Mittens. Their mother dresses them in fancy clothes for a tea party but the kittens mess-up and lose their clothes. It reminds me of when I was a young girl, and didn't quite enjoy wearing stiff, fancy clothes. The antics of animals dressed in clothes appeals to the younger children.

African Americans Who Were First
Published in Hardcover by Cobblehill (September, 1997)
Average review score:

A great African American short historyThis book is written for ages 9-14 and I believe the information is written at that level of understanding. It is written very clear and concise. The story or life of the 29 members in this book is different from most of the African Americans who were brought to the American shore starting 1619. It is noted that Phyllis Wheatley was brought to Boston, Massachusetts around 1761. She became a poetess after learning to read and write. She was quite lucky to have been allowed to learn to read and write as most of the other slaves were not allowed that priviledge. She is noted to have had published her first book of poems in 1773 when she was about 22 years old. The book goes on from there enumerating the discoveries and firsts that 28 other African Americans participated in up to the 21st century.
I recommend that every child as well as adult read this informative book of American firsts

The art of hanging
Published in Unknown Binding by A. S. Barnes ()
Average review score:

A look at early English JusticeWow ! in the 14th century and beyond, the British were absolutely ruthless in dishing out punishment for what seemed to be ia inexhaustable list of capital crimes.
Even the most insignificant crime could mean the rope and that which often accompanied it. A great little read, but difficult to imagine it actually happening albeit that it is history at its worst.

The Baked Bean Supper Murders

Mrs. Potter Does It Again! Before you finish this splendedly composed mystery, Mrs. "Genia" Potter will seem like a member of your family. I loved all Virginia Rich's original books. She gave such life to her characters. What luck for us readers that Nancy Pickard kindly picked up the series and Mrs. Potter can continue to solve her little mysteries. Thank you ladies for the good stories and yummie recipes. I look forward to more.

Beatrix Potter's Letters
Published in Hardcover by Frederick Warne & Co (February, 1990)
Average review score:

This is a collection of correspondence from BP to others.I have never read a book like this before. The letters cover most of her life from about age 5 on to her death in 1943. I felt as though I had happened on a box of correspondence that I found difficult to put down. Sort of like reading some one else's diary. Much was mundane and business like but there were occasional glimpses into her spirit. She loved the lakes area and through her determination, much of it is preserved today for the pure pleasure of the British population. I knew her for Peter Rabbit. I admire her for her later determination to preserve the land for the people.

Beatrix Potter: The Story of the Creator of Peter Rabbit

life of a great ladyThis lady could have been a great scientist as she was meticulous in observation and wanted to be a biologist. However she was a dutiful daughter and turned her talents first to writing and illustrating childrens stories and later to being an innovative and hardworking farmer and breeder of sheep. Her intense love of the beauty of the lake district and the old villages led into the conservation movement and she helped the birth of the National Trust in England.
